🌕Tonight, Michigan will witness the rising of the Pink Moon, a name inspired not by its color but by the blooming of creeping phlox, a native Michigan wildflower that blankets our state in vibrant pink each spring. As the moon ascends at 7:49 PM, it symbolizes the lush renewal of our landscapes, mirroring the dense carpets of pink that signal spring's full arrival. This April full moon invites us to reflect on the beauty of these native blooms and the ancient beliefs that saw moons as bearers of healing and rebirth.
🌸Creeping phlox (Phlox subulata), also known as moss phlox, is particularly cherished for its adaptability and the charm it brings to rocky gardens and wooded landscapes across Michigan. The flower’s ties to the Pink Moon are a wonderful reminder of nature’s synchronicity and the folklore that connects us to past generations who marveled at the same natural phenomena.
