                Volunteer Program

Thank for your interest in becoming a Howell Conference & Nature Center Volunteer. There are opportunities to suit your interest, availability, and skills. It only takes a few hours to make a meaningful contribution to the success of our programs.

We have positions for individuals, families, and high school students. Many of the positions are working behind the  scenes with or without interaction with our wildlife and others are working with our visitors during our special events. High school and college students can earn community service credit. Training is provided by the Nature Center staff as required by the specific assignment.

There are three steps in becoming a Nature Center volunteer:

       Complete and submit your application.
Volunteer Coordinator will contact you for an interview either by telephone or in person.
Schedule a training session, if special training is required.

Please note the minimum age is 18 for individuals working alone with the wildlife. Youths between the ages of 12 and 17  may volunteer with an adult partner. Families with children under 12 may volunteer to fill our many bird feeders.

Those wishing to help out at Special Events (fundraisers), please contact janeta@howellnaturecenter.org.
Jobs would include registration, parking, concession, set up and take down, selling tickets, seeking donors for auction items, seeking corporate sponsorships, decorations, etc. There is lots to do at any Special Event and folks are needed to help plan the event as well as work the day of. We do have lots of fun.

Volunteer Coordinator, Jan Adamski, at 517- 546 - 6104

The Howell Conference & Nature Center is dedicated to Environmental Education and to the protection of God's creatures. Healing a wing of an owl or teaching the beauty of nature to a child is just a small part of what the Nature Center is all about. The Nature Center conducts a variety of programs including: Environmental Education, Retreats, Summer Camps, Wildlife Rehabilitation, High Adventure Program, Global Village and so much more. Many of these programs utilize the help of volunteers. Each summer, our Volunteers are invited to attend a barbecue in their honor, to share stories and celebrate a good job well done. A wonderful time is had by all.
