The Cultural Connections program combines the Global Tour with two hours of cooking.
In the guided walking tour of the Global Village, participants explore the model houses and the lives of people living in the diverse regions of the world where Heifer works. Through role-playing, games, stories, and hands-on artifacts, participants learn how humans, animals, and education can greatly improve the lives of those in need.
After the Global Tour, participants are assigned to a “family” group and a house in the Village, where they cook a traditional Nepali dish over a campstove and an open fire. With this simple exercise, students learn how important culture, community, and cooperation are in our daily lives.
