Saturday, October 6, 2018 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Pre-registration $7/person
Day-of registration $10/person
Participants MUST be over age 5. Participants 17 years of age and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult.

These two-hour programs offer an opportunity for visitors age 5+ to enrich the lives of selected residents of Livingston County’s only zoo, Wild Wonders Wildlife Park. Known in the profession as “behavioral enrichment,” this process stimulates zoo residents’ senses and engages their minds by simulating situations they might find in the wild.

Participants will create behavioral enrichment toys and activities with materials provided by Howell Nature Center that encourage natural behaviors in captive wildlife. Once completed, watch as the lucky recipients — foxes, coyotes, mink, and bobcat — exhibit such natural behaviors as foraging, exploration, locomotion, and social interaction while enjoying your creation.

Under the guidance of an expert animal handler, you’ll build species-specific enrichments such as:

A meal is hidden within a structure, the animal must “solve” the puzzle in order to earn the treat

New and/or rarely-seen materials that pique curiosity

Unusual or indulgent food items to bring variety to the diet and more!

Watch Copper and Vixen enjoying a very special enrichment activity:
